FIN – band

I was the writer/singer/guitarist in the Indie band FIN between ’93 and ’95. In that time we played around 150 gigs across most of the UK. We supported (or were supported by) Supegrass, The Cranberries, Elastica, Catatonia, Gene, Sleeper, Ocean Colour Scene, Tindersticks and the Beatles. We released 4 singles; Headstrong, Narcissus, Moisturizer, Jetstream and an album ‘Positive’. Despite self-releasing on our own ‘Red’ label, the songs received extensive national airplay (Headstrong was B-listed by Radio 1). We played live on BBCR1, Virgin and GLR. We formed a relationship with the legendary plugger Scott Piering who regarded me as ‘the second-best writer of the era…after Jarvis Cocker’. Could be worse…

Promise – solo album

In 2007 I released an album of solo material under the project name All Our Good Friends. The record was positively received across the music press and beyond, gaining reviews in The Sunday Times, The Word, NME, Q, Rough Trade and airplay on BBC6 Music, GLR and Virgin.

A False Parade – solo album

In 2011 I released my second solo album A FALSE PARADE. A fuller and more produced sound than my debut, it featured the brilliant Kevin Armstrong on guitar.

Wonder – solo album

In 2012 I wrote and produced the sparse and emotive collection of songs that formed this album and the short film based around them. The vocals are shared with Sadie Pickering as two partners in a decaying relationship. I recorded the tracks in my own studio and the album was mixed by Gareth Jones (Depeche Mode, Nick Cave, Erasure)
